Two-head embroidery family

Generic sewing & embroidery machinery illustration · not the listed equipment

Equipment series · Two-head embroidery family

This Galaxy machine is a flatbed embroidery unit with two heads, sold under the title 500 × 800 mm. The photos show heads numbered 1 and 2, twelve numbered needle positions on the head in view and a Dahao-branded controller. Galaxy publishes no model code and no technical table for it. It suits flat work where one design repeats on both heads. To price it, send your article, the design file and a drawing of where the stitching sits.

What the Galaxy listing shows

Galaxy presents this machine in five photos under a short title. The table puts each visible feature next to the figure you need written into the quote. For how heads, needles and fields relate on multihead machines, see the guide to embroidery heads and head spacing. Other flatbed and multihead units sit under sewing and embroidery machinery. [1]

Pin down the 500 × 800 mm field

The title gives 500 × 800 mm without saying what it measures. It could be one head's field, a shared field or another dimension, so doubling it to get a production width is a mistake. Ask Galaxy for a drawing with the X and Y axes, the head spacing, the clamp and hoop limits and the travel that can really be stitched.

Send the size of the whole article, not only the motif. A motif can sit inside the field while the garment or hoop gets in the way. Ask Galaxy to run your article and frame through the full outline of the design.

Galaxy also sells cap, garment, towel and special-effect machines. To do one of those jobs on this flatbed, get the matching fixture or attachment named in writing and ask for a trial on your own fabric. [1] [2]

How the two heads work together

Ask Galaxy to show whether the unit sews the same design on both heads, whether one head can be switched off, and what happens when one thread breaks or one piece needs attention. Running two designs at the same time should be seen on the machine before you count on it.

On repeat batches, run matched pieces on both heads and compare placement, stitch look, tension and trims. Count output in good pieces only.

On short mixed orders, time a full job change: loading the design, assigning colours, rethreading, swapping the fixture and setting the origin. Those tasks take as long with two heads as with one, so doubling a single-head rate overstates capacity. [1]

Load your own file on the Dahao controller

The Dahao name on the screen tells you the controller brand. Ask for the controller model, firmware version and the stitch-file formats it reads before you match it to your digitising setup.

Have Galaxy load your file and show orientation, origin, colour order, head selection and restart. Keep a copy of the approved file and settings, and check how the machine backs them up and restores them.

Galaxy offers digitising software and process guidance as separate services. Ask for licence terms, computer needs, editable files, training and any recurring fees as their own lines in the quote. [1] [2]

Acceptance run for two heads

Agree the pass marks with Galaxy before the run, based on the exact configuration on your order. The steps below make a simple acceptance run for this machine. [1]

  1. Fix the recipe

Write down the design revision, fabric, backing, thread, needles, finished size and the placement and appearance limits.

  2. Check the fit

Record the usable field, head spacing, fixture and the position of each piece.

  3. Stitch a pair

Run the approved design on head 1 and head 2 and mark each piece with its head and settings.

  4. Judge each head

Look at registration, small text, fills, puckering and trims across every piece, not just the best one.

  5. Break and change

Stop and restart as the manual describes, then change the design or fixture and time each step.

  6. Sign off the delivery

Keep the good pieces, cycle times, configuration, drawings, manuals, backups and service terms together.

Power, size and true output

Galaxy lists no supply voltage, phase, rated input, footprint, weight, speed range or noise level for this machine. Get these for the unit you buy, because the general electrical FAQ and other Galaxy models give no figures for it. Galaxy should fill in each figure set out in the page on installed power and electrical supply.

Time the whole cycle: loading, positioning, stitching, trims, stops, unloading and any reworked pieces. Note the stitch count, design, speed setting and heads in use. That lets you compare this unit with a single-head setup on equal terms.

Agree the hoops and frames supplied, spare needles and wear parts, assembly, training for operators and programmers, and the warranty. [1]

Sources & limitations

Before ordering, ask Galaxy to confirm in writing: the model code and needle count of the unit quoted, what 500 × 800 mm measures, whether the heads can run separately or with different designs, the controller model and file formats, the supply and power input, the footprint and weight, and what the warranty and service cover.
