GK2018 · Glove knitting

Equipment model · GK2018
The GK2018 is a glove knitting machine with a compact head, made by Dawei for lightweight knitted work gloves. It is listed in 10G, 13G, 15G and 18G. Rated output runs from 360–380 pairs per 24 hours on 10G to 180–200 on 15G, and it runs on single-phase 220 V at 170 W. Every machine overlocks the cuff automatically, while glove arranging, broken-needle detection and the stripe, jacquard and finger functions are sold as options. To get a quote, send a sample glove, the yarn and the gauge you need.

Four gauges, their size codes and daily pairs
Dawei prints a size row and a daily pair range for each gauge. The size row pairs letters with numbers, such as L:63 on 10G, but never says what the number measures. Ask Dawei to explain the code before you match it to your own size chart. The guide to glove and sock knitting gauge shows why the finer gauges trade speed for a thinner, closer knit.
The pair ranges come without the yarn, pattern, glove size or stoppage time behind them. On 18G the two language versions disagree: 150–200 pairs in Chinese, 180–200 in English. Get one figure from Dawei in writing for the glove you plan to make. [1]

Built-in overlocking and the option list
The overlocker is part of the base GK2018, so cuffs leave the machine finished. The rest of the function list is optional. When offers from several suppliers arrive, compare the configurations line by line rather than by model name, because two GK2018 quotes can differ a lot in what they include. [1]

| Function | Status | Question for Dawei |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic cuff overlocking | Standard | Will my yarn give a clean cuff with no extra overlocking pass? |
| Automatic glove arrangement | Optional | Which handling tasks stay with the operator? |
| Wireless non-contact broken-needle detection | Optional | What faults trip it, and how does the machine restart? |
| Two or three-colour stripes; small regular jacquard | Optional | Which parts and programs does my pattern need? |
| Half fingers; two-colour fingers; lower little-finger crotch | Optional | How long does a style or size change take? |
| U2 and U3 | Named, no description | What device or function is it, in writing? |
Carriage, power, packing and shipping
On the GK2018 data sheet you will find a carriage of 112 mm, an automatic oil feed and a 170 W rating on single-phase 220 V. Ask for the oil grade and service intervals, and check that the 170 W covers the options you order. Our note on installed power and electrical supply covers what to confirm with your electrician.
The dimensions on the sheet belong to the shipping case. Plan the floor from an installed layout that shows operator space and access for yarn changes. Dawei's packing note fits 46 sets in a 20-foot GP container and 100 in a 40-foot HQ; confirm the count for your packing when you book freight. [1]

Gloves the GK2018 is meant for
Dawei pitches the GK2018 at light gloves for fine hand work, such as those worn on electronics lines, and at liners that go on to coating or other processing. Write the fibre blend, yarn build, size, fit and cuff into your order, and say which coating or finishing follows.
Protective claims belong to the finished glove. If your buyers need antistatic or cut resistance, have the coated glove tested for that use; the gauge and machine model are only inputs.
For terry gloves Dawei sells the GK2023, which has a larger head and its own needles and sinkers. A GK2018 order covers the lightweight build only, so ask about the GK2023 separately if you also make terry styles. Sock and flat machines from other makers sit with the rest of the knitting machinery on the site. [1]
Prove the machine on your own glove
Use your production yarn and fit every option you are buying. A trial run with your own material, signed off against agreed limits, gives you a fair base for the factory acceptance test. [1]
Write the glove spec
Gauge, yarn, size, finger shape, cuff and pattern, with the size code explained by Dawei.
List the fitted options
Each handling, detection, colour and finger function, with the parts and software it uses.
Inspect the first gloves
Fingertips and crotches, dropped or missed stitches, cuff seam, size and loose yarn ends.
Count accepted pairs
Time the run and log stops, operator help and rejects. Settle the 18G figure first if you knit that gauge.
Test stops and changes
Trip the detection, restart the machine and change pattern and size the way Dawei's manual says.
File the results
Programs, settings, sample gloves, pair count, meter readings, maintenance notes and training records.
Electricity use and what the offer should cover
Dawei says the GK2018 makes more pairs and uses less power per day than older glove machines. The page gives percentages but no matching glove, yarn, size, pattern or utilisation. Put a meter on the machine during the trial and work out the energy per accepted pair, adding any auxiliary load.
A 170 W nameplate gives you the peak draw, not the cost per glove. Only a metered run on your style tells you that.
The offer should list the installed layout, utilities, every option, spare needles and other wear parts, a program backup, training, warranty and delivery date. Ask which steps after knitting stay manual or move to another machine. [1]

Sources & limitations
Before you place the order, get Dawei's written answer on what the size codes measure, the 18G daily pair figure, what U2 and U3 are, the rated input with your options fitted, the installed layout, and the options, wear parts, training and warranty in the price. Prove output, energy use and needle detection on your own style, and send coated samples to a lab for any protective rating.
