Equipment series · WH hollow covering spindle family

The WH hollow covering spindle family is Wanheng's range of spindle assemblies for covering machines, which wrap a cover yarn around a core. Each variant has its own full code, for example WH8401B-342, WH8302C-290 or WH8202B-262. The WH8202B-262 entry shows a photograph of the part with no dimensioned drawing and no speed or lubrication figures. Pick a variant by matching your machine, bobbin and drive, then prove one sample on your own yarn before you order a bank of positions.

The WH code range and how to pick a variant

  • Choose by full code and drawing. Matching endings such as 262 can belong to different spindles.

Wanheng sells its covering spindles as single variants, each under a full WH code. The covering-spindle catalogue includes WH8401B-342, WH8X01B-340, WH8201B-294, WH8202B-262, WH8203B-262, WH8301C-283 and WH8302C-290, with further entries beyond those.

Read each code as a whole label. WH8202B-262 and WH8203B-262 end in the same three digits, yet the full codes differ, so they may suit different machines. Wanheng publishes no key to the letters and numbers, and nothing in the catalogue ties 262 to a length. Before swapping one code for another, ask for the drawing and the intended machine of each.

The catalogue shows the WH8202B-336 title twice. Ask Wanheng whether the two entries are separate versions or a repeated listing.

WH8202B-262 is the only variant with its own detail entry, and that entry holds a photograph and general company text with no table of figures. Ask for the data of the exact code you plan to buy instead of borrowing it from that example. [1] [2]

Five places the spindle must fit your machine

Wanheng can only confirm a fit once it sees how the spindle meets the machine and the loaded bobbin. Build the enquiry from this table, then ask for each answer on a marked drawing. [2]

Getting a speed and load figure you can use

The WH8202B-262 entry gives no maximum speed and no package load. Ask Wanheng for the operating range of the exact spindle, mounted as on your machine and carrying a full bobbin, plus any balancing, runout or inspection steps it specifies.

Describe your real process range and package condition. Agree how the trial will watch vibration, temperature and stops, and which limits will halt the run. Hold the speed at Wanheng's figure for your code even when another catalogue part looks identical.

The photo shows a long shaft joined to a wider body, surfaces in different colours and an end cap. Colour and finish tell you nothing about the alloy, the coating, the bearings inside or the lubricant. Get a component specification for those points, or inspect a sample. [2]

Judging the covered yarn as well as the fit

A spindle can sit perfectly in the machine and still give covered yarn that misses your standard. Fix the core yarn, cover yarn, material lot, package preparation and process settings for the comparison, so the spindle is the only thing that changes.

Agree the yarn checks with your quality team. Covering consistency, visible defects and breaks are common choices. Keep reference and trial samples taken by a sampling method you write down. Wanheng's pages give no yarn-quality or output guarantee, so set your own pass mark.

If the new spindle is meant to cure a fault, record the fault and a baseline under the same conditions first. A short run that looks good says little about the original cause or about long-term running. [2]

Qualifying one spindle before a bank of positions

Use these steps as your own plan, alongside the installation and operating instructions Wanheng supplies for the code. [2]

  1. Lock the offer

Keep the full WH code, the drawing revision, the parts included and the operating schedule that come with the quote.

  2. Measure the mating surfaces

Check the agreed dimensions and fit surfaces against the approved drawing and the bobbin you actually use.

  3. Install with a technician

Mount the spindle under the approved procedure and check support, drive alignment, clearance and guards.

  4. Run at the agreed settings

Log package state, settings, what you observe and every stop. Halt the run if any agreed limit is passed.

  5. Compare the yarn

Run the same material under the same process controls and judge the covered result against your requirement.

  6. Release or correct

Record the sample identity, results and any changes, then order the batch to the revision that passed your acceptance check.

What comes in the box and how it is serviced

Ask for an itemised list of the assembly, because the photograph may not show every supplied part. State whether you want complete spindle assemblies or single replacement elements, how many, and any matched bobbins or accessories.

Request part marking, batch identification, packing and protection, inspection records and the final drawing. Ask whether the bearings and other wear parts can be replaced, and get the service instructions and spare references for the revision you receive.

Price, lead time, warranty, service cover and current figures belong in the written quotation. Keep the approved revision on file so that later deliveries under the same family name can be checked against it. [1] [2]

Sources & limitations

Before ordering, get these points from Wanheng in writing: the WH code for your machine and bobbin, marked up on your drawing; the speed, package load, bearings and lubrication approved for that code; what each delivery includes; and whether later batches keep the same construction. WH8202B-262 is the only variant with its own entry, and that entry is a name and a photo, so every other code needs its own data.
